About Bscopes
Bscopes is a classic software startup run by two guys in a garage. Ok… that’s not exactly accurate. Our garages are filled with cars, kid’s bikes, tools etc. And they are too cold in winter and too warm in summer. So Bscopes is really two guys in their crowded home offices. Just a totally virtual Web 2.0 company.
The initial inspiration for Bscopes was a session we had about overload and cutting through the clutter. We’d were looking at different techniques for visualizing large data sets. That’s when we agreed that a picture really is worth a thousand words.
Getting to the blog posts you really want to read is easier if you don’t have to read them all. Bscopes is focused on “Viewing the Blogosphere”. We are building Bscopes as a web service to let folks cut down their RSS overload.
About the two guys
Brad and Steve first met back in college at the University of Maryland arguing about their favorite color (blue… no yellow…) Both were Computer Science majors and worked together at the CS Center’s help desk. Well… worked might be too generous a description. It was more like two nerds hanging out picking on the non-CS majors and flirting with the few girls that showed up.
Flash forward a number of years. We each worked at separate companies. We worked together at the same user group. Then we both ended up at the same company in Northern Virginia. When we both left that company we decided to keep working together and later started Bscopes. We decided that we’d had enough driving a hour each way just to work for someone else.
